Can you use herbal supplements together with humic acid?
Is it forbidden to give herbs and humic acid at the same time?
This is a question we receive very frequently — and just yesterday a dog owner asked it again in a message.
Let’s first look at where humic acid comes from.
Humic and fulvic acids originate from soils rich in decomposed organic matter. These soils are made up of ancient plant materials such as vegetables, fruits, and algae.
An interesting fact: humic acid cannot be reproduced in laboratories.
There have been many attempts, but its formation requires immense amounts of time and the resources of Mother Nature herself.
Another important characteristic is that the exact concentration of these acids can vary, as soil composition changes over time. That’s why the active content of humic-acid supplements is always approximate and can never be precisely defined.
These acids are also naturally present in vegetables grown in healthy, nutrient-rich soil.
What does humic acid do in your dog’s body — and how does it complement herbal supplements?
Humic acid has excellent detoxifying effects on the digestive system and is capable of binding and eliminating heavy metals from the body.
It is also rich in antioxidants, which help repair cellular damage caused by toxins.
One of the most important toxins humic acid can remove is glyphosate.
Glyphosate is designed to kill everything:
insects, bacteria, fungi, and weeds.
It works by blocking a specific enzyme pathway. This destroys plants completely and places insects into a condition comparable to AIDS in humans.
Dogs themselves don’t rely on this enzyme — but their beneficial gut bacteria do.
Glyphosate has even been approved as an antibiotic, and as we know, antibiotics kill both harmful and beneficial bacteria.
About 80% of a dog’s immune system resides in the gut.
A healthy population of beneficial bacteria is one of the most important foundations of overall health.
This is where herbs come in
I’ve spoken many times about the importance of gut health. That’s exactly why it makes sense to combine herbal supplements with humic-acid-based products.
This combination helps rebuild a healthy gut more quickly, improves nutrient absorption, and makes herbal protocols significantly more effective.
Why didn’t I include humic acid in our herbal blends?
Simply because humic-acid supplements don’t work well with every feeding method and can conflict with many types of dog food.
Several manufacturers have already researched and explained why this happens, so I won’t go deeper into that topic here — they know it best.
My goal was to create a product line that works with every feeding style and diet, without excluding anyone just because a dog can only tolerate a specific food at the moment.
And we succeeded:
My Bulldog Herbs blends can be used with all feeding methods and won’t cause digestive issues.
In conclusion
If your dog already receives a humic-acid supplement and you feel the results aren’t fast or strong enough, you can safely add a targeted herbal blend alongside it.
You’ll see noticeably better results in improving your dog’s overall health.
